Child Safety & Online Learning Policy

SG Scholars aims to provide an age-appropriate learning environment in which students can learn, participate and communicate respectfully.

We take reasonable steps to promote student safety, protect personal information and respond appropriately to safety concerns or serious misconduct.

Students under 18 should use SG Scholars services with the involvement and supervision of a parent or legal guardian.

• Parents or guardians should supervise younger students when reasonably necessary.
• Parents or guardians should ensure students use an appropriate device and learning environment.
• Parents or guardians should help students understand appropriate online behaviour.
• Parents or guardians should ensure account credentials are kept secure.
• Parents or guardians should contact SG Scholars if they have a safety concern.

Students are expected to treat teachers, classmates and other participants with respect.

Students must not:

• Bullying, threaten, harass or intentionally intimidate another person.
• Use abusive, discriminatory or seriously inappropriate language.
• Share another student's personal information without permission.
• Impersonate another person or misuse another student's account.
• Attempt to disrupt classes, systems or other students' learning.
• Share inappropriate images, videos, links or other content.
• Record or redistribute live classes without permission.

Some SG Scholars programmes may use Zoom or other third-party communication and learning platforms for live classes.

Students should participate from a suitable and reasonably private learning environment and should avoid displaying or sharing unnecessary personal information.

Certain live classes may be recorded for educational, revision, quality-control or operational purposes.

Recordings may contain a student's name, voice, image, questions, comments or other information voluntarily shared during a class.

Students should not share unnecessary private or sensitive information during online classes.

SG Scholars may communicate with parents, guardians and students through approved channels relating to enrolment, classes, learning activities, support and account administration.

Students should not be asked to move educational communication to unauthorised or inappropriate private communication channels.

Parents, guardians and students are encouraged to report concerns involving bullying, harassment, inappropriate behaviour, online safety, privacy or other serious issues.

SG Scholars may investigate reported incidents and take reasonable action to protect students, teachers and other participants.

Depending on the circumstances, action may include warnings, removal from a class, restriction of access, suspension or termination of an account.

Serious matters may be referred to a parent or legal guardian and, where appropriate or legally required, to relevant authorities.

SG Scholars handles student and parent/guardian personal data in accordance with applicable Singapore data protection requirements and our Privacy Policy.

We aim to collect and use student information only for legitimate educational, operational, safety, support and legal purposes.

SG Scholars may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes to our services, technology, safety practices or applicable requirements. The latest version will be published on our website with the applicable effective date.
